Sharon's Story - The Most Cherished Pregnancy Moment
I was 13 weeks pregnant and it was my second visit to the obstetrician, where he told me that danger zone of a miscarriage is over. The same night I had a bad dream that I had a miscarriage and woke up really scared and startled. Every morning my husband used to bring me toast with strawberry jam so that my nausea would ease off. But that day I didn't want my toast because for me the jam was like the blood in my dream (A very strange feeling).
A week after I was eating my lunch, I remember it was macaroni when all of a sudden I felt something dribbling down my legs..... It was blood. I panicked because I had a great flow of blood not just a spot. At that very moment I felt that everything was over. My husband took me to the toilet and sat me down, and there I was imagining my dream so I just lied flat on the cold floor waiting for help. Then my husband tried to ring the obstetrician and my family doctor but nobody was answering. He then called my mum who just lives up the road and in a split second she was ringing the door bell. Straight away they called for an ambulance and I was admitted to hospital. It was around 3pm when the lady doctor tested me with an instrument, and she told me that if the instrument comes out clean it means that there is hope - and it did. We then heard the heat beat, but she still didn't build our hopes up as I could still have a miscarriage. They couldn't perform an ultrasound till morning so you could just imagine how much I slept that night.
The final moment arrived when I saw my tiny baby alive and kicking and the midwife said Hemm Hu Kemm Hu imqarreb!!! In fact today I have a nine month year old beautiful baby boy which I could never imagine. All I had was a blood clot exactly under my uterus. I have never felt that feeling of happiness and relief at the same time in all my life. When I saw his arms and legs going up and down I just bursted into happy tears. It was like he told us here I am mummy and daddy I'll see you soooooon!!
